This is the ultimate Off Road Adventure Challenge of 2007 which is being staged in the unchartered terrain of North Africa, from the foothills of the Rif Mountains at Fes through the heights of the Atlas Mountains to the changing sands and oasis of the Sahara desert. The adventure begins on the 17th October and concludes on the 21st October.
The event will not only pit teams against some of the worlds most challenging and beautiful landscape, it will also be a test of teamwork, driving skill, creativity, planning and navigational capabilities.
Armed with compasses, GPS and navigational charts, participating teams will sample a route that encompasses both existing trails and neglected narrow passes, through forests, mountains, across riverbeds and the inevitable sand dunes.
The event route will pass through the Cedar forests, cross the High and Anti Atlas Mountains towards Dades Gorge and on to the barren wilderness of the area close to the Algerian border between Zagora and Mazouga ending at the high dunes of the Erg Chebbi at Mazouga.
No other event will have utilised such diverse terrain......for many it will be the Ultimate event they will ever enter.
All teams will be self-sufficient i.e all food and carry some spares. Even a mobile workshop will be on the event along with a Paramedic if needed. On route some campsites will be used, but for 2 nights the participants will be camping under the stars in the Sahara wilderness.
Around 25 teams will be competing to be simply the best, but we are really only interested in one team.This is the Duckworth team- Ben Duckworth and Howard Belt, I wonder why?
