The search is now on for the Uk's top young talent in an ambitious new television programme - Young Talent of the Year is part of a new BBC 3 series celebrating young trade talent across the country. It’s been dubbed ‘Chop Idol’ and it will celebrate our country’s young unsung heroes.

Duckworth Land Rover’s apprentice technician James Bennett decided to take on the challenge and entered the Uk’s Top Young talent of the year 2009.

Young Apprentices training to be either Mechanics, Chefs, Hairdressers or Butchers and aged between 16-25 years old were invited to enter this exciting competition to find a true ambassador for their trade. Someone who was up for a challenge and wanted to show the world their skills.

James was amongst 2000 initial entries in this unique competition, these were then narrowed down to 100 competitors, who were then invited to an audition in Manchester. James managed to prove his true worth and managed to be chosen to join the last 25.

The last 25 were then lucky enough to be invited to go to Silverstone for a unique practical challenge. This involved fault finding on Formula Ford Racing cars (for those who don’t know this is a mini F1 car)

We are all so proud of James as he has now been chosen as one of the final 5, who will be heading off to a secret location to carry out more practical challenges at the end of April 09.

The 15th April 2009 saw James being interviewed on home territory at Duckworth Land Rover Market Rasen to find out his full and exciting story so far and to see him in his true working environment. This will be aired on BBC 3 on 23rd November 2009 at 10.30pm. So make sure you all watch our talented Lincolnshire lad!!
